Personality

PERSONALITY
Ace is a relatively straightforward person. While Ace is rather serious and calculating on the battlefield or around those he's just met, he is very much still a person that wants to relax at the end of the day. The drive that he has to complete his mission keeps him hyper focused and it makes it tough for him to lower his guard around anyone. But, once he does accept that he can trust somebody, he will let them in fully and completely. Once you've become a part of his family, you're a part of it for life. Though, don't confuse this trust for naivety. Just because he trusts you doesn't mean he's not paying attention to you. The events of his past made it difficult for him to be able to trust someone completely.

History

In 1991, it was believed the Cold War had come to an end. This was proven wrong with Russia's Nuclear assault that decimated the states of Alaska, Washington, and Oregon in February of 1992.In 1993, underground cities were made and created in the United States that were placed deep below the Earth's crust and resting just above the mantle. Billionaires across the country deemed it necessary for civilization to continue as World War Three raged on the surface, making majority of the world on the surface uninhabitable. In November of 1994, a mandatory drafting of the most capable survivors in the underground was issued by the United States government. Any and all male and female citizens above the age of 25 were forced to take to the front lines in the raging war on the surface. In May of 1995, my father was drafted off to war. It was the last time my mother would ever see him. In July of 1995, I was born. From what I've been told, the world of the Underground is apparently nearly identical to the one that was on the surface before. Only difference is, we don't get to see the light of the surface unless we're forced to scavenge for supplies unavailable to us in the cities down below. There's artificial light that was constructed on the ceilings of the underground that gives a similar impression to the sun, but it's a totally different feeling compared to the feeling of the sun against your skin. Greenhouses were constructed for farming needs and artificial trees and plants were put all around in order to keep the flow of oxygen regular for us to sustain life.Transportation changed drastically. Not being able to use fossil fuel vehicles that the human race relied on previously, new magnetic cars were developed in order for people to get from place to place rather quickly. My mother and I lived in what would've been considered Minneapolis on the surface. In order to make things easier on the populace, the government made any major city have a number to keep better track of the draft. Our city was designated the title of City 7.Growing up in the Underground was different from life before according to my mom. Schooling was done either only on a computer or it was done at home by a parent because of safety regulations. My entire life was focused on one thing alone however: Survival. At the age of 4, I met another young boy named Jake. His mother had gone to school on the surface with my mom, so of course we were raised together without either of our fathers around. In the off chance we got to relax and play as a kid, we would instead spend it reading and researching various medical books. At the time, both of us thought maybe we could eventually help our dads out in the war effort if we were able to bandage up their wounds. At 10, Jake and I were starting to get sent on recon missions along with scavenging missions with a couple of girls from down the street. Jess, my neighbor, had been always the more courageous of our group and was significantly more athletic and agile. She thrived on being in danger and was always at the front of the group to lead us on missions. Aurora was the most reserved out of our group and significantly more cautious. Though, whenever she had a gut feeling that we needed to drop our gear and move, it seemed as if danger was always right around the corner. The scavenging missions were simple ones at first: Take an elevator up to safe spots of the surface, scavenge the requested materials that had been lost to civilization due to the accelerated, massive migration to the underground, and get back. Most of the areas we were sent to were desolate. No soliders of any kind, no danger. Just wild animals that had taken over the city thanks to the lack of human interaction. As time passed and as we grew more accustomed to the increasing difficulty of our missions, we found ourselves in more dangerous situations. Soldiers swarming the city from enemy countries, traps set to kill off any intruders in the city. We all managed to get a few scars thanks to some of the missions. That never stopped us, though. Not until May 4th of 2013. Jake's 16th birthday.A mission was passed along to us that we weren't prepared for. One in the heart of Old New York City. A wealthy military General had sent the request specifically to our group based on our success percentage of our missions. It seemed as though there was a dangerous weapon in development at a research facility that was hidden in New York's business district. We were given the information on how to access the bunker and what to look for along with the warning of Russian military being posted all throughout. We'd have to take the subway routes under the city to even get CLOSE to the building that hid the bunker. At first, with the price given to us, every one of us were on board with the mission. But, as we started to pack our gear and get ready to head out, Aurora stopped us in the middle of the street with tears in her eyes. "I've kept quiet only because of how excited you all were...but, we can't do this one! I can't shake this feeling of pure dread I have and I refuse to let it stay like this. I don't care how much we could make from it...we can't take this mission!!"

The rest of the group looked at one another. I couldn't shake the sudden chill down my back from just looking at Aurora crying as hard as she was. But, the silence was broken as Jess walked over and put a hand onto Aurora's shoulder."Normally...I'd say we could probably drop the mission and move on to the next one, Aurora, but this is the chance of a lifetime! If we do this mission, we never have to work another one for as long as we live! Our families can have nicer homes, better cars, and even more expensive clothing! If we pass up this chance...we might never get another one like it."Aurora became silent as she looked at the ground, tears still flowing like mad as Jake took a step forward. "Think of this as a birthday present to me, Aurora. If your gut says it's still too dangerous by the time we reach the building, then we turn back and go home. Not every mission is expected to succeed and even the General said in his message that he understands if we aren't able to complete the mission due to the extreme nature of it. But we have to at least try...right?"Silence overtook the group once more before Aurora would nod."A-alright...but the first sign of trouble we see, we turn back! I don't want anyone here to even come home this time with a scratch, let alone a scar!" The group would agree and we would make our way to the elevator up. Looking back on it now...I should've just spoke up and agreed with Aurora to turn back. The start of the mission went flawlessly. We managed to evade every enemy soldier we came across, we made it to the building, and managed to get inside without being detected. When we got inside, Aurora swore she still had the feeling from before, but Jake and Jess both were determined to finish the mission at that point. We got into the underground bunker and managed to procure the weapon the General described. The rifle had a similar style to the XM8 that the U.S. military had been using at the time, only it seemed significantly heavier than the regular model. We thought nothing of it.Jake threw the gun into the pack on his back and we made our way out of the building. Sneaking back towards the subway tunnels, we managed to avoid every last group of enemy soldiers and we started to go down into the stairwell before Jake stopped. I turned around to look at him with a cocked eyebrow as ran back over to him. "Jake, what are you doing? Come on. We can't hang around here anymore."Suddenly, I was embraced by my longtime friend before he would whisper into my ear. "You've always been my best friend, Ace...get these two back home safe. I love you, man. Finish the mission." His words sounded pained. And I didn't understand why until I felt a warm splatter of liquid against my cheek before Jake's entire body weight was against me, making me lose my footing and fall backwards down the staircase. My ears were ringing like crazy as I came to. I was out for only a few seconds, but in that time, Jess was screaming at Aurora to give her a hand with getting Jake's body off of me. A silenced sniper had taken three shots at Jake before we made it to the tunnel. One shot to his calf, one through his back which pierced through his right lung, and one straight through the head to finish the job. I didn't realize it, but a fourth shot was attempted to kill me as well. The only thing that saved my life was Jake falling forward in my arms.We took Jake's body and the weapon back. The funeral was held only two days later and it wasn't a major turnout. Jake deserved to have the world show up to his final sendoff, but instead only got a total of seventeen people. Not even that damn General showed up after we made our report. Jake's death in his eyes was an "acceptable loss for such an important weapon to the war."Jake. My closest friend. The first person I trusted, not only with my life, but even some of my deepest secrets. A young man that only wanted to help this world and help end the war. His biggest dream was to become a military medic just to help save people. Considered to be an acceptable loss?Fuck the military.

I went into a deep depression after that day. Jess and Aurora tried to drag me out to take my mind off it. They took me to see movies, they took me to the simulation arcade near my place, they even tried to drag me to parties that some of their friends had. None of it worked. When you lose that person...that one person you trust with EVERYTHING. You can't just go back to normal.Thankfully, I still had my mom. The only other person I trusted to the ends of the Earth. On my 16th birthday, she took me away from all of the noise for a week. She took me to the Grand Canyon. Untouched by the war, it was one of the few places that my mom said she treasured more than anything. It was the place she had met my dad as a kid. The place where their future and my future started. The view was gorgeous. It wasn't something you could describe with just a few words. It was so breathtaking that you could just get absorbed by it.And, we did. My mom and I both stood at the edge of the Canyon for literally hours. I remember every thought and feeling of that day. Including the tears that rolled down my face as I stared at the sunset over the rocky landscape."I never even got to say it back to him, mom...he was just gone in an instant..."My mother came over and embraced me in the tighest hug she could manage.I couldn't make out what she had said. Something about Jake knowing. My attention instead turned to a sound in the distance. The sound barrier had just been broken by several jets. Though, I couldn't tell just from the sound alone.Within seconds, a massive mushroom cloud erupted off in the distance. It was so massive that you could easily see it from even where we were. That's when my eyes darted to an object that was dropping down towards the dead center of the Canyon.I had maybe two seconds. The first was spent going through my entire life. They say when you're about to experience death that you see your entire life like a movie in front of your eyes...and I can say that's pretty accurate. It was played before me like an HD movie. The second second was right when the nuclear missile was about to detonate. My thoughts were interrupted at that moment as my eyes snapped to my mom, who was still embracing me in her arms without knowing what was happening.I wanted to save her. I wanted to save us both. I wished so hard to do something to save us. I dreamt of being back safe at home, our stuff and everything back in our driveway without a scratch on us.Just as the sky lit up, it suddenly became dark again.I thought I was dead. I felt like I couldn't breathe. Then, I suddenly was snapped back to reality as I heard my mom curse for the first time since I was a toddler."WHAT THE FUCK?!?"Standing in the driveway, my mom pulling back and away from me and falling back onto our car that was suddenly parked behind her, my mom had a cold sweat start to pour down her face. My eyes had to adjust to the darkness of the underground again before I could even realize what had just happened. My mom's reaction told me it hadn't been just a dream that we were at the Grand Canyon. Obviously, we had gone. And somehow we were back. As I stared at my mom, the tears started to pour down my face again as I fell to my knees. "We're safe...we're alive...we actually survived..."My mom didn't understand what had even happened until we watched the news the next day. The Grand Canyon and the surrounding area had been turned into a Nuclear Wasteland within seconds because of several Russian jets dropping missiles all around and on top of it. Thankfully, there hadn't been any casualties.

I still didn't understand it. I wasn't sure what happened to save my mom and I. I had only wished we were safe and dreamt of us being back in the driveway. I hadn't a clue how we were saved. As time went on, I experienced other irregularities. Jess and Aurora had been filled in about what happened with my mom and I. It made them want to secretly dig into the details and try to dig into what had happened with me. After several tests to see if I could magically wish things into existence, it was only when I was dead asleep that they confirmed what my power was that had saved my mom and I.They had snuck into my room, crouched down by me while I was dead asleep, and chanted in my ears in a whisper that they wanted some ice cream. Suddenly, ice cream literally would fall and drop onto their heads as I continued to sleep. The only reason I woke up to find out what had happened was the screams they had let loose from the freezing cold treats dropping on them.It seemed illogical. The power to just /dream/ something into reality? And, why was it that I couldn't do it while awake?None of it made sense. But, after testing it again the next few nights, it was the only thing that made sense of how my mom and I survived the nuclear explosion. As time went on, I trained my new ability. I would practice more and more to lucid dream so I could control my dreams while asleep. Then, it was only a matter of figuring out how to control my ability while awake as well. I had been playing around with a deck of cards Jess had left the last time she and Aurora were over when I first figured out how to manipulate my ability while awake for the first time. I was staring down at the King of Clubs, looking at his sword. I wanted to know how sharp that sword was, how heavy it was, and I wanted to feel it in my hands. I daydreamed myself wielding that sword and practicing with it when suddenly it appeared right in my empty hand. There were limitations to the ability I called "Visual Dreaming." I could only dream something into existence for a brief period of time. Weapons, food, money. All of it disappeared within different time frames. Yet, if someone ingested some food I created, it wouldn't just disappear. Which meant, so long as the items created were in constant use or used before the time limit was up, it would stay in existence. This limitation didn't apply to my own body or to anything I did to anyone else, however. Which made sense, considering my mom and I weren't sent back to the radioactive Grand Canyon. But, even beyond that. I was able to make myself stronger, make myself faster. I even gave myself the ability to fly! It all came at a cost, however. Any time I used my ability on myself or on someone else, it always came with a piercing migraine not long after. The pain became more dull as I trained my mind and body, but it didn't take it away completely. There were also other limitations to the ability...I couldn't just dream someone back to life. As badly as I wanted to and tried, I could never bring Jake back. Nor could I dream my dad back home. Especially since I only had old pictures of him that mom had stored away. I also wasn't able to give myself God like powers. Which, made sense. I'm only human...I think.Several years have passed since I learned of my power. I'm secretly now the most powerful and intelligent being on this planet, yet only a small select group of people know about it. A select group of people that all follow my lead on adventures to rid this world of the toxicity that plagues it. Though, I'm no leader. In this family, we're all equal. In this family, we're on a mission. At first, it was to survive this war. Now?We will take this world back from those who have ruined it. We will make a future worth living in and we will become better than those that drove this world into the wasteland it is today. We will make our lives better, not only for ourselves, but for our future families as well.My name is Ace. If you're reading this, then that means you know what we're here for. And you're invited to join our cause.Welcome to the Court of Aces.

Ability Info and Item Info

ABILITIES
Ace is considered to be fairly powerful thanks to his ability to day dream. While not all powerful, he's able to use his ability to dream to give himself abilities above that of a typical superhuman. Durability, speed, strength, intelligence, vision, and more all can be buffed to give him an advantage. Though, his power still comes with a cost: A head splitting migraine that gets worse the more he pushes his abilities.
This migraine, if Ace is pushed to his very limits, can actually start to cause fractures in his skull. If pushed beyond his limits, his own ability could kill him...for a time, anyway. Though he has yet to get pushed to that limit to know how bad it could end up being. The ability of dreaming itself can create nearly anything, for a time. Whether it be a sword, a nuclear missile, or even a portal to another dimension, anything is possible but it all comes with a potential cost.

ITEMS
▪︎ Carried with him even after the fall of the Jedi Order is a utility belt with pouches full of various items. From rebreathers to help Ace breathe underwater to food/water pills to even a lightsaber repair kit and a grappling hook. He typically will have something that can help him out in a variety of different situations stashed in this belt, though the items he considers more "crucial", he'll typically keep those in his trench coat so that it can't be as easily taken off his person. One of those crucial items was the private communicator that kept him in contact with Ahsoka Tano if she needed him.

▪︎ On his person at all times is the ring that Ace's father left behind. Though it seems as though an ordinary gold ring, there may be something to it that Ace has yet to discover...

MISCELLANEOUS▪︎The faceclaim for Ace is Raven from Elsword. Primarily the Furious Blade and Blade Master forms. Just for ease, since there's not a LOT of art out there that I've found for the character, I'll be using whatever pictures and gifs of Raven I can find, but primarily they will be FB/BM if possible. NO ART BELONGS TO ME, ALL ART CREDIT GOES TO THEIR ORIGINAL CREATORS!!▪︎ This is a Self OC to some extent. Obviously, while Ace is 6'6" with black hair and gold eyes, I'm 6'4" with brown hair and brown eyes. So, there's some details that differ from myself and obviously I'm not a Jedi. So...take the everything from the character with a slight grain of salt.
